Back to work real soon...

Mixed feelings about having to go back to work next week. On the one hand, it means that I can actually step out of the house 'legally' because no longer on sick leave. And it will be good to go back to work. Am mentally prepared that I have a lot of catching up to do and it's going to be a super busy few weeks but am rested so bring it on! :o)

Things that I will miss - my afternoon naps (yes, am very spoilt after two weeks of taking afternoon naps), watching Oprah in the afternoon and the one that's top on my list is my craftwork. I stopped crafting for sometime cuz I usually tired at the end of the day to do anything after. And on weekends, I just don't want to do anything :o) So these two weeks have been good cuz I managed to catch up on things that I had in my mind for sometime and finally did something about it. I am hoping, really really hoping that I will be able to do a wee bit more especially during weekends as part of my vegging out.

So what have I been up to. While it goes back for a little bit. I was very inspired by Bernie, a dear friend, when four of us met up to celebrate MBA day. We had a good night and you can read all about it on Fiona's blog. Alrighty, I am digressing. Where was I...crafting. Okay, I loved the look that Bernie had that night with the flower in her hair. It just screamed tropical island babe and I like that idea. So sketched some and thought about it some and I came up (and still making) several cloth dolls using that idea and combining my love for beading too. I want to thank Bernie for being my source of inspiration for these dolls!! Thanks dear!!!

So here are my Flower Gals Series (well only three of them for now but it's a start). Am working on the fourth one at the moment but she's at the 'head' stage only :o)
This is the first one that I made over the nice long National Day weekend. She's wearing a cheongsam with some details on the front. She's wearing a strand of bone beads and 'jade' looking earrings (I think those are agate beads).

This is the second one that I was toying with. Wasn't sure what I wanted for her outfit - something casual yet chic I guess.

And this third one is currently my favourite cuz I had in mind a doll that's funky, totally wild and cool. She's wearing a cool sleeveless baby-doll dress that's a little longer with bright orange knee-length boots. And that shawl has a raw look to it (nope, it's not because I was too lazy to sew up the sides but I really wanted that raw rough look). She's not complete yet cuz I have not accessories her yet. Am still looking through my beads to find that perfect accessories for her (yes, yes, I get very anal about these things).

Like I said before, they are not ready yet but just wanted to post them up, plus hopefully be a reminder to me to make time to do what I really enjoy to balance work with something fun. So keep a look out for the other girls that will join these three. Won't be so soon but definitely akan datang.

Hi Tesia! How are you feeling? Hope you are doing good and observing all the things that you need to do to keep your body cool like drink the different concoctions. The worse part is over after the first week cuz that's when you might have fever and the blisters just popping. As for scars which was my biggest concern, on my face, I have scars from where the scabs fall off but my skin doctor assured me that they aren't pitted (no deep holes) and pretty level so that a relieve. The scars are there and I am using some cream from the doctor (when to see a skin specialist as soon as my MC was over). Unfortunately, it will take some time for it to go away :o( As for my body, they are also slowly healing (and surprisingly, it's much itchier now than before) and I think it will take some time. There are suppose to be creams for the body scars but there are so many that it takes forever to apply. But important thing is to NOT peel the scabs and let them fall off (though some stubborn ones may take a bit longer). And if it's itchy, use tissue paper to gently 'scratch' without pressing hard please. And mentally, be prepared to have them scars cuz was told they will take time to fade. Hang in there and the second week is the time when you are able to do other things like catch up on things that you always wanted to but not had time. Take care Tesia :o)

Hi Liz, my mother has imposed a very restricted diet on me in the name of vanity - only plain pork, fish and veg : / Of course there's the concoctions too. I was quite fortunate cos I only had fever once and quite minimal blisters [not that itchy either], but the large scabs are staying put [esp on the face]! Surprisingly the doctor gave me practically no medication too... I've been re-organising my room, but I miss the food and my tri weekly exercise... not missing work though! :D

Hi Tesia. Good that your Mum watching what you eat cuz it helps. For me, both my parents couldn't stay cuz they haven't had chicken pox yet and they are helping to look after my baby nephew who is less than a month old thus not vaccinated. So cooking was such a chore for me and I didn't really watch what I ate. Just whacked what I could get my hands on..maybe that's why the itching now :o( I had huge scabs on my face and those were my biggest concerns. Load up on Vitamin C ya. I was recommended to take this Redoxon 1000mg of Vit C which is stronger than fresh orange juice. That's suppose to help with immune system and skin. So I took that religiously. As for the scabs, they will fall off soon towards the end half of second week and unfortunately there is still the marks. As long as they are not pitted and are levelled, it will be okay. Wish it would go away faster but told it won't be so fast. And the marks has gotten darker eventhough I have not taken black sauce *laughs*. Am watching over them very closely. Get the meds for the scar from the doctor when you go see him/her for your clearance checkup. And I was told that getting chicken pox at a later age, we need to watch out for shingles too. Bummer ya.

Hi Liz,

How's work?

I've started "shedding", much to the disgust of my mother :D I on the other hand have been scrutinising the scars for pitted-ness, but I think deep inside, I have to be prepared for some scarring, especially since I'm not a terribly gentle person :p

I've one more day before I return to work! *boo hoo*

Hi Tes,

Work is horrid and I miss being at home doing whatever I want too :o( Staying awake in the afternoon is the hardest after my afternoon naps when on MC.

You're going through the shedding stage!!! Like you, I was obsessed...scrutinising every single scar..I could point their positions even if I had my eyes closed!! And yes, I was a bit worried when I saw little depression right at the centre of each spot where the scabs dropped off. Doctor assured me it's normal but still... And yes, a little scarring is inevitable cuz it would be quite a miracle to go through it unscarred ya? Let's just hope for minimal scarring for us both. For me, where the scabs were, it's getting darker even though I have been religiously using the cream for the scars. Am wondering if should use Vit E cream..dunno. Also, on my last day of MC, I went to get clearance from doctor and she extended a few more days (until the weekend) so that ALL my scabs have had a chance to fall off cuz quite horrid to walk out still with scabs (cuz mine were huge). Do you need to go back to your doctor tomorrow or back to work straight? Hope it's the former so that you can enjoy a few more days off! Got fingers crossed for you!

Hi Liz,

Decided not to bother to see the doctor again as I've been going out over the weekend to class/gym/church. Most of the scabs on my face have dropped off save for one that's masquerading as a mole [unless people know me and know that I don't have a mole there] though there're still others on my body. Skin is still raw so I can't say how badly scarred I'll be. Maybe I should go ask one of the doctors @ work [since I work in a hospital] whether I should try to extend my MC? Lol... But I'm out of MC days already, so I think I should just keep working like a good girl :(
